In certain cases, parents or guardians using BetterEstate may provide information about their minor children as part of the estate planning process (for example, naming a child as a beneficiary or guardian). If you provide information about a child under the age of 13, you affirm that you are legally authorized to do so and have appropriate consent. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information.

Please note that we may be unable to completely remove all data in every instance due to technical constraints or if we are required to retain certain information by law. Note that we may need to retain some information for legal reasons or to complete transactions you initiated (for example, maintaining records of an estate plan you created), but we will honor deletion requests to the extent required by law.
- Opt-Out of Marketing: If you no longer wish to receive marketing or promotional emails from us, you can opt out at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in those emails or by contacting us. Even after you opt out of marketing, we may still send you transactional or informational messages (such as account notifications or legal updates).
- Cookies & Analytics Choices: Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through the browser settings. You can also opt out of Google Analytics by using a browser add-on if you wish to prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics. For interest-based advertising, you can use industry opt-out tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) opt-out page or your device settings to limit ad tracking.
- Do Not Track: Some browsers have “Do Not Track” features. At this time, BetterEstate’s Services do not respond to Do Not Track signals. However, we treat opt-out preference signals (such as the Global Privacy Control) in accordance with applicable laws, as described below in the California Privacy Rights section.

In other words, you will not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.If you are a California resident and would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us as described in the “Contact Us” section below. For certain requests, we will need to verify your identity and residency before fulfilling the request, which may involve asking you for additional information. If you have designated an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, we will require proof of that authorization.Also, under California law, we do not knowingly sell the personal information of minors under 16 years of age without affirmative authorization.
